After initially greenlighting a sequel to Tron: Legacy – titled Tron: Ascension – in 2015, Disney decided to cancel it due to the underperformance of another sci-fi epic, Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland. Tron: Ascension would have starred Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Cilian Murphy and would have revolved around Sam and Quorra taking back ENCOM from Edward Dillinger Jr.
