A sequel to Harmony Korine’s divisive Spring Breakers, titled Spring Breakers: The Second Coming, was under development by the producers without Korine’s involvement. Set to be directed by Jonas Akerlund and scripted by Irvine Welsh, the movie was set to revolve around a new group of Spring Breakers who would battle with an extreme militant Christian sect that attempted to convert them. After actor James Franco spoke out against the movie on his Instagram page, it has seemingly been stuck in development hell with no new updates since.
