The Best Movies Never Made
Before Harry Potter was adapted into a highly successful and iconic film series, Warner Bros, who had purchased the rights for $2 million, reached out to DreamWorks in the hopes of bringing them on board to collaborate on the films. DreamWorks co-founder Steven Spielberg expressed interest in adapting the books as an animated movie due to the amount of visual effects that would be required to adapt the book. He also wanted to combine several of the books into one movie instead of solely adapting each and every one. Warner Bros’ president Alan Horn insisted on a live-action adaptation and Spielberg chose to leave the project, focusing on other movies instead.
